These screens are fantastic. They will screen out your grounds and your coffee will taste much better. They really make a difference.

I bought this filter to replace the original one that came with my Bodum 34oz French Press and it’s honestly a lot better. Fits great and works great, no complaints.

These replacement mesh pads have smooth edges; these will fray with time but right out of the gate, they are nicely finished. The mesh is a good replacement for your French press 8 cup, because despite good washing, the mesh gets frayed and tarnished with use. Coffee deposits an acidic precipitate that can produce off flavors and of course, it doesn't look pretty after a while.To replace, you simply unscrew the bottom spring plate and the mesh is between the plate and the top retainer. Slip it in. At this time, you can go over the pieces with a soft toothbrush and some baking soda to remove coffee residue. When cleaning the pot between uses, a paste of baking soda is useful but use a toothbrush as the edges of the wire mesh eventually will poke you. Above all do not clean the apparatus by plunging it up and down like a piston (hahah, someone's guy did this, while I shook my head. That's glass, silly. Guess what happens when you scratch it? That's right, it loses its integrity and can break at really inconvenient times, like when you are pouring in hot water.)Anyway, these mesh replacements are great and three in a pack is helpful. You'll have one to replace from time to time or if you have multiple pots (decaf, hi-test and tea?) you can replace them all.

I thrifted a vintage Le Crescent French Press that had a beat up filter and this fit great.

For every quality that I did or did not like about the original filter, this is the exact same, and has maybe even lasted longer. It's lasted long enough that I think I've misplaced the second fiter. I have no issues with this, and if I need to replace my filter again, I expect I will get this product again.

Compared to filters with no reinforcement in the center and around the perimeter, these filter screens should last longer and deter fraying in the center and around the edges. They work well and feel sturdier than the filters with no edging.
