I put it to good use
Work very well

Safe and easy to use.
Used for tree climbing while hunting. It works fine but I will be upgrading to a more silent style as I use it for hunting

Works very well, holds strong, no slippage. Very smooth edges, does not chew the rope.
The media could not be loaded. This is a well manufactured piece of equipment. Very easy to attach in the middle of the rope. It grabs the rope strongly, and any weight hanging from it only contributes to grabbing the rope tighter. All edges are eased off, there is nothing to damage the rope or cut your finger. To move it up, just pull it up. To move it down, you need to pivot it to expose the lever that disengages the device, allowing it to slide down.$30 (at the time of me typing this review) is a very reasonable price.

Works, but I won't climb on it
This rope grab is well made, inexpensive and moves up the rope smoothly. It goes down well too, but due to the way it arrests the rope it isn't the easiest movement to do while loaded. I set it up for a static load (i.e. sitting on it instead of falling on it) and it can hold my weight perfectly fine on a 9.8mm rope. Dynamic rope in my case, but will work perfectly well with a static rope as well. Why didn't I try this out in a dynamic load? Honestly it should work fine but I have my share of distrust...This rope grab appears to have been around for a few years now but its origins has always been shrouded in mystery. It appears to have a CE certification but when there is no real brand to speak of it is very hard to verify the authenticity of such certification... and for something serving as your lifeline I would rather not risk my life on it. Being a Camp Lift clone, I can't help but wonder if the certification was just copied over, albeit the current Camp Lift's have EN567 (2013) but also EN12841B (2006). This rope grab on the other hand has a undated EN567 plus a Chinese certification from 2004.This last aspect was not to hit on Chinese climbing manufacturers. There are good ones out there that do things the right way. Kailas for instance will at least certify the year of their certification. And another reason why I did not try dynamic loading is because EN567 is for static loads. Due to the way it clamps on tighter when loaded, by pressing the rope against the lever arm to further clamp down harder, it reasons to believe it could still do decent for dynamic loads but I would not utilize this for self-belaying for instance. Perhaps part of a more complete system (for/with redundancy) but not as the system itself. Or better as a backup. On the other hand, this product would work great as something for progressive hauling of a static load like a haul bag.TL;DR: due to its origins being a bit clouded, maybe don't put your life on the line to save a few bucks over something properly vetted and certified. The Camp Lift is only a little more expensive, albeit harder to buy in Canada... but for other means not involving it being your sole lifeline, this product does work as well as advertised--but static loads only ideally.
