GE brand so far has been of good quality.
Very good product. Replaced a 10 year old GE disposal with this new GE disposal. Hope to get at least the same service with this one. Would strongly suggest using plumbers putty when attaching the sink flange down into your sink instead of the rubber gasket that is included for that. This helps prevent any water leaks above the actual disposal when you install it beneath the sink.

Super Easy Install, With Some Help From YouTube, Very Good Product! FIVE STARS!
If you have never installed a disposal before, I recommend looking for the how to on YouTube. I found a video that perfectly walked me through the install steps for this make and model and before you know it, the new disposal was installed and working perfectly. From start to finish twenty minutes, thankfully I didn't have to replace the flange, that would have taken much longer. FIVE STARS!

May be best to reuse one rubber gasket from old unit if possible
Almost 5 stars. I ended up using the rubber gasket that suspends the twist-lock on, from the unit I replaced. The one that came with the new unit looked exactly the same but I was unable to lift the new disposal into place appropriately. I simply used the old part and it fit perfectly. The circumference of the new rubber gasket was just slightly too large.

we liked the slim design which worked well under the sink ...
I purchased this model in Feb. 2015 to replace a 10 yr old previous model that broke. I thought, well, it lasted for 10 years, why spend $200 or more on a 3/4 Hp unit or a more expensive 1/2 Hp unit? Also, I thought by purchasing the same model I was hoping I wouldn't have to mess with the putting in a new sink opening hardware and hanger. One other thing, we liked the slim design which worked well under the sink for leaving more maneuvering room and storage under the sink.I installed the unit myself and it was very straightforward. It did indeed fit in the former hanger from the sink opening. Also, since it remained about the same width, all the plumping and the dishwasher discharge hose all lined up exactly the same way so I didn't have to change anything there. I just moved them out of the way and then moved them back in line. I did utilize the new large gasket ring that simply slips in place at the bottom of the hanger opening.Upon running the unit for the first time I was pleased with how much quieter it was than the old unit. It has worked well for the past few weeks. The one thing to remember is there are two choices in ordering: a) A unit with a cord that has a plug in the end to simply plug in the wall. This is what I needed/wanted; b) A unit with a cord that needs to be hardwired into the wall. They were different prices. I was ready to push the submit order button when I realized I was ordering the hard wired instead of the cord with a plug. I deleted and made sure I ordered the plug in model. I would recommend this unit.

Locking ring was tough to secure, but it is a great value - and much quieter than the old one
It took me way too long, because: (a) the discharge elbow was not long enough ( by three inches) to match-up with the permanent plumbing, thus requiring a trip to the hardware stor; and (b) I didn't heed well the instructions regarding the positioning of the vibration isolation ring; once I re-read the instructions and got that solved, I was finally able to temporarily mount the disposal to the locking ring. However, getting the ring fully locked was tough. Still, once I toughed-up and locked it in, all good, no leaks. And even though it is rated as not quiet, it is way less noisy than the old one. Very happy with this appliance.
