They do in fact seem to be air filters
I am not sure how one goes about testing how good their air filters are - but as far as I can tell, they seem good. They're sturdy as you expect an air filter to be - it's a cardboard frame, so not particularly hardy, but they were not ripped or flimsy. Arrived quickly, and seems to be a good value. This is a second purchase.

Never order two filter sizes in one order
Never got the 18"X18" after two deliveries and countless failed tries to communicate with Amazon. All that was ever delivered is twelve 20"X20" filters after ordering six of each size. Returned the same shipment twice only to receive all twelve filters 20"X20" both times. I'm sure the filters work fine; they look pretty nice.

Works adequately + Good price
Our HVAC fan runs 24/7 because that makes our unit more efficient. In dusty West Texas that means that we change the filter every 3 weeks (no, NOT 3 months). I have these on Prime subscription.

I lost my smell with COVID so I don't know if it removes smell but my house is actually a lot cooler using these so that is a win for me as I live in Florida. I have to keep tuning the temp warmer because I get too cold now. Good buy!
