Bought a several of these Julian books for my son to read over the summer. I have him read to me daily and he laughs when he reads or has an added story to tell. He’s 9 and loves these books.

I cannot recommend this book
We liked the first 5 Julian books (absolutely loved the first book). Unfortunately, the Huey books are poorly written; several grammatical errors; bad grammar like "way far from here" instead of "very far from here/far away from here." Additionally, some of the stories aren't that great. The chapter on his father's struggle with tobacco was acceptable, but disappointing - his father was a positive role model throughout the previous 6 books until this book. Julian was not a great big brother in this book; he was decent albeit a bit mischievous in the previous books, but was downright mean in this book. And finally, we did not like the chapter describing how the earth formed "magically" from a single explosion - you get the idea. Of all the college classes Huey's father could have taken, he chose astronomy as his first college course - seriously??? Would not recommend. If you like the first book, I would suggest stopping after reading the first 5 Julian books.

A Fun Read-Aloud
This book is full of fun characters and great story lines. It's fun to read aloud to your kids and short enough for bedtime stories!
