Well made - great for outdoor activities!
The media could not be loaded. I was looking for an outdoor smartphone for when I’m doing intense outdoor activities. In my opinion, this Doogee S59 Pro follows the design of other outdoor smartphones. It’s made of plastic, rubber, and metal. On the back, there is a large camera element that is arranged in the middle. Some symbols and Doogee lettering are placed below. I didn’t find a fingerprint sensor there, as it is integrated into the on / off switch in the frame. There is also the SIM slot, in which either two Nano-SIM cards or a Nano SIM card and a microSD card can be inserted. USB-C is used as a connection. Doogee does not clearly communicate whether an audio connection is also installed, but no corresponding adapter is included in the scope of delivery. The 5.71-inch display is on the front. The selfie camera is housed in a compact waterdrop notch. Corning Gorilla Glass is used to protect the panel. Overall, the Doogee S59 Pro is certified according to IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810G and is therefore very robust and sealed against water and dust. The built-in metal has a slightly brushed look and is held in dark gray.Doogee relies on the old MediaTek Helio P22, an eight-core processor with a clock frequency of up to 2.0 GHz each. In itself, this is a solid chip that is used in many smartphones. In the meantime, however, it can clearly be seen as a budget chip; it is used in various models that cost around 100 euros. I would have liked a more powerful processor in the much more expensive Doogee S59 Pro, for example, the Helio P30 or P60. I have nothing to complain about when it comes to the memory, which is more than sufficient in size at 128 gigabytes and is also expandable. With four gigabytes, the RAM is also in line with the price – much more would probably not make sense in combination with the old chip. Particularly noteworthy is the huge battery. 10,050 mAh is quite a lot, and the energy-saving processor, in particular, should allow great runtimes. Such large batteries in smartphones with rather small displays are scarce! The 5.71 inch LCD of the Doogee S59 Pro offers an “HD +” resolution. Unfortunately, there is no more detailed information, except that it provides wonderfully lively colors and contrasts. So far, however, I have not seen a smartphone where the manufacturer is not convinced that the display is wonderful. Especially because of the low resolution, we wouldn’t expect the S59 Pro’s screen to be one of the most critical arguments in favor of the smartphone. After all, there are five of the – four on the back, one on the front. This smartphone has a solid 16-megapixel resolution. Various AI effects can be applied to the photos in the software. Of course, this also works with the recordings of the main cameras: 16 megapixels (main camera, wide-angle) + 8 megapixels (ultra wide-angle) + 8 megapixels (macro) + 2 megapixels (depth information). The macro camera, in particular, has a surprisingly high resolution, so we’re particularly excited about the recordings.Like other current Doogee smartphones, the Doogee S59 Pro also offers an underwater mode. This can be activated in the camera app and deactivates the touchscreen, which no longer works correctly under the water surface. The recordings are then triggered by the buttons in the frame of the housing. Doogee is in for a splash here: 2G / 3G / 4G including LTE band 20, NFC & Google Pay, GPS, WLAN, and Bluetooth are actually all you need. Unfortunately, there is no more detailed information, which is why we are not assuming WLAN 6 and Bluetooth 5. Presumably, older versions are on board, as is the case with most inexpensive smartphones. In a nutshell, the huge argument for the new outdoor smartphone from Doogee is the battery, which should easily provide several days of runtime. In combination with the small display and thus also the rather compact housing, the Doogee S59 Pro has virtually no real competition. But if you look at the display and the processor, you quickly notice that savings have been made here. Overall, I recommend it.

The Phone Works
I loved that this phone has a built in battery that would last up to three days. That may be true if you do not have a bunch of apps on it. I loved that you can record conversations easily on it. Made it easier to remember things I would forget. I did not like that there was no place to turn for real software answers. The YouTube videos do not get in to the nitty gritty of how to navigate the software. Technical support from Amazon were only able to direct me to YouTube and the manufacturer across the water. It was able to adjust to my speaking my text and emails perfectly. NightVisionCamera works well, too. Unfortunately, it is only in black and white. Sorta like an xray picture. I loved the weight of the phone. I felt confident that I would NOT drop it because it is not a sleek phone. I also loved that I found a case in which to put it so that I did not have to carry around a purse. I could put credit cards and cash in the case. I did not want to use face recognition or fingerprint reader; therefore, I cannot comment on that.

Nice device!!! Battery life and camera ROCKS!!!
Disclosure: I purchased this phone to use primarily as an "all-conditions" camera and a secondary smart device. I do not plan on using this phone as a phone. Took the phone on a mini-vacation with the GF in Scottsdale, AZ.1) Pictures come out GREAT! The selfie camera on my Note 8 sucks. The selfie camera on this phone ROCKS. Not crazy about recorded sound with video though. But I didn't take many videos. Might be something I either have to adjust or adjust TO.2) Since I won't be using this as a phone, the battery life is almost unparalleled. I put a full charge on the phone on Saturday May 1st. I used the device as I intended. Never turned the phone off for any reason. On Saturday May 15th, the device still had 25% of battery life. That's what I'm talkin' bout!!!3) Waterproofing: I did not take any underwater pics. But I did mess around with my GF's head by taking the device and putting it under a flowing tap in our hotel washroom. No issues whatsoever.I don't mind the bulkiness of the device. Again, I am using this more as a camera. I'm still trying certain things out, but as of now, I am very very happy with this "phone".

Awesome in the beginning.
At first it was great. Batter life lasted forever. In a very short time, I noticed my port was loose. This is common with my kids phones but not mine. I don't use mine while it's charging. I bought another charger hoping that was the problem. Today it's impossible to get it charged all the way, and now the battery is draining faster. I will have to replace it soon.

Tough phone, long battery, heavy and awkward.
Really tough phone. Battery is insane. I charge every 3 days with liberal use. Takes great underwater pictures. The bad : buttons tend to be easy to press in your pocket or just trying to hold it. Processor is a bit slow, but still ok. Weight, it is a boat anchor. But I suppose it has to be to have an oversize battery. Great phone overall for price.

The phone is rugged but
The phone is rugged but the instructions could be a lot better. that is why I only gave it a 3 star overall rating. Push this button, but where is the the button. as far as I'm concerned improve the instructions and you'll get a higher rating.
