Q: Why are the bristles red? Red dye? and is it really soft, because one review stated that the were hard.

I’m not sure why the bristles are red; I’m guessing they are dyed. It doesn’t say on the package. They do not fade over time. As for the softness, I find them to be between extra soft and soft. I used to use extra soft, and then all the manufacturers changed them and made them so the heads are the sizes of children’s toothbrushes. Soft toothbrushes are still too hard for me. These are the only ones I’ve found that are soft enough and have a full size (extra large in this case) head.
