A lifesaver several times over. Seriously.
This works great. You can clone from disk to disk. I use it with Clonezilla USB boot stick to make disk images that can later be restored. Backup your entire drive frequently and you can go back if you wipe out your system by some other unintentional means lol. Yes this has saved me while learning linux. Accidentally lunch it....and then just go back where you started with a saved image. If you get tired of chroot'ing into your non-booting system to fix it, just restore it!

Worth the money
As simple as plug and play. I pulled two hard drives out of a couple of old systems and was easily able to recover important files. Worked like a charm for such a reasonable price.

Cloning is Hit or Miss
I believe in the 2-clone backup system, and have been doing a drive overhaul/consolidation home project to use a dual Linux/Window booting system using Window-style partitions (not the standard side-by-side install). Before getting this item, I used free cloning software either by connections pulled in back of my pc, or by USB device which was much slower. I ran into too many drive recognition issues using the back connectors, and wanted to try this gadget. The Wavlink Dock is faster than either of those software averaging 256GB in a half hour.. roughly 140mbs. When it works, it works well. But sometimes it also seems to run into drive recognition issues likely due same identification coding. If the flashing light doesn't move past 25% in 15 minutes, it likely never will, and something will need to be done like reformatting. On the bright side, being careful not to remove Source Drive while lights are flashing (typically I would turn it off first) my Source Drive has never been corrupted. I considered returning, but I can't say if other similar devices would perform better. There are likely many tactics to get around reformatting. I use Linux GDE partition software and delete a partition or two. Changing drive ID may do it if you are proficient.Despite some wrangling, I'm still glad to have this item.

The data pinch
Works great - This is excellent for managing some extra storage drives be it to erase, clone or store data in a pinch. if it had an NVMe slot would make it 6 stars.

Does what it says, but not how it says.
I got this primarily for cloning harddrives. Large drives. The instruction book is rubbish. It lists the process very wrong. Its close enough that if you are slightly capable you'll figure it out, but even if you've done it before you'll sit there going "Am I sure I did that right?"There are included "mounting" screws, but I am not sure what design they were given for hard drive screw placements. But.. They locked into place pretty tight, and transferred 14 terra in roughly 16 hours. So it did what its advertised to do.

CORRUPTED BOTH DRIVES AND LEFT THEM DAMAGED
This piece of junk CORRUPTED 3 DRIVES.If the connected computer is shutdown, this thing will corrupt your drives.YOu will start seeing Disk Inaccessible or Worse Disk Damaged. This thing is incredibly unstable and shouldn't be in the market. The first one I was able to fix with chkdsk. Then this thing just completely corrupted and damaged 2 other drives. Completely showing now as Damaged Drives in my Disk Recovery tool..I am very angry that Amazon is selling this thing. I've just lost Terrabytes of Data on a piece of junk that was supposed to allow me copy my data onto another drive. How can Amazon be selling this.---------------- UPDATED WITH HOW TO RECOVER SOME OF YOUR FILES: --------------------------For many who have fallen victim to this piece of junk, I've found a way to at least get some of your files back. It is tedious and I spent 14hours to get back about 75% of my files.Firstly your disk is toasted, but the data is still somewhat inside it. By running chkdsk and then using DiskGenius (Free Edition) you can at least copy some of the data onto A NEW DRIVE and save your sanity.Step 1: Get DiskGenius (Free Edition) and a New Disk Drive to Save your recovered files to.Step 2 (Optional): If you have a 3rd disk available you can clone this bad disk so you can still repeat attempting to save your dataStep 3: Open cmd (Administrator) and then run chkdsk (It is going to be an overnight thing). After chkdsk the disk will still say error (I said the disk is toast) but it's ok that is where DiskGenius comes inStep 4: Open DiskGenius, you will see your bad disk listed, click on it and click [Files] in the Right Tab window.Step 5: You will see a hidden folder named "Found.000". It will have dozens of folders. Just patiently browse them and you will see that some folders contain your files.Step 6: Right Click the folder that you want and click "Copy to (S)". Pick a folder in your NEW DRIVE and save. (UNDER NO CIRCUSTANCES SHOULD YOU TRY TO WRITE TO THIS CORRUPTED DRIVE AS YOU COULD WIPE AWAY YOUR DATA. JUST COPY FROM IT TILL YOU ARE DONE).Hope that helpsAMAZON PLEASE STOP SELLING THIS JUNK.There are many people here who have said the same thing that it Corrupts drives. Please, Please, Please have them fix this or stop selling it.

Reliable
Very happy with mine. I've not used the cloning feature yet, instead I have it attached to a raspberry pi and use it for a Raid1 backup plan. Running 24/7, it's proving to be a set it and forget it thing.
