Cheap but effective
I've had this for just over a year now and it's fine. Not the sturdiest, best made caliper ever, but it does the job. If you're only going to use it occasionally, take the batteries out between uses.

Forget about the steel calipers for over £20! Get one of these for a good bargain!
Having already bought a pair of calipers made of steel for over £20, I was browsing Amazon one day when I saw these on sale for £2.49. Now common sense would tend to make you think that my set of £20 steel calipers would be much better than these for £2.49! I've seen so many of these non-metal calipers for sale, but never thought to buy them and test them against my steel ones. At £2.49 though, why not! So I added them to my order and the following day set about comparing them.Guess what?! On every item that I tested, there was NO DIFFERENCE in measurements! Yes ok, they lack any ability to lock the slider in place like my steel ones, but we're talking nearly £19 difference in price. The LCD looks identical, so I can only assume that it's the body that's different. I know that steel will be more hard wearing than these, but at this price, with a bit of TLC, these are a no-brainer!So if you are looking for a set of calipers on a budget or just looking for a bargain, forget about the steel versions and snag one of these! If you found this review helpful, can you please help me by clicking on the helpful button. accurate and repeatable
When I saw these reviewed on Bigclive(.com) I just had to have one. For a very small cost it’s a great companion to my steel vernier caliper of 40 years service and may even become my preferred vernier caliper. For a plastic caliper, It’s a pleasant instrument to feel and hold but critically, it is accurate and repeatable to its resolution of 0.1mm just as demonstrated by BigcliveIt has an on/off so remember to switch off between uses. There is a zero button for making incremental measurements eg how much bigger diameter is this pipe from that one. Remember to check the zero at switch on. The zero button can be a minor nuisance if you accidentally touch it while making a measurement and there is no provision for locking the jaws. It counts forwards and backwards so has a +0.0 and a -0.0. I wonder what the implications of this are but I doubt if there will be any practical significance in everyday measurements.

Good for the price.
I bought this as a replacement for a (steel) caliper which had rusted and was now unusable. I had to do some measurements on a piece of machinery and the digital readout was very useful. It measures both metric and imperial (AF I think). I haven't had a chance to test it for extreme accuracy but for general purpose measurements it seems fine- and being non-ferrous, won't rust! One point- it's easy to nudge the zeroing button as you manoeuvre the caliper in a confined space, as I found out to my cost. Having discovered this, I resorted to closing the jaws fully and resetting the readout to zero before each new measurement. Other than that, it is fit for my purpose. There'll be more accurate calipers out there for the micro-engineers amongst us, but for general purpose, occasional users such as myself, these are fine.

Great for the price
I dropped a star because they were described as carbon fiber and they're plastic - yes I'm being picky, I knew this from the other reviews.I measured various dimensions against a rule and it seems accurate. If you're a mechanic these won't survive, if you're an indoor hobbyist these are fine. My only complaint is that they power on when the slide is moved, I'm using the plastic strip they arrived with to isolate the battery when not in use.I've no regrets buying these for occasional use. The item arrived on time in a jiffy bag, not the most robust packaging but this is to be expected for the price.

It measures, it measures well but has limits
For the odd check on an external or internal size... This works well, the display is clear and the action is pretty smooth (I have a metal non-digital one which leaves much to be desired in the smoothness steaks). However, if you are wishing to for high accuracy... Look elsewhere. True, it isn't inaccurate per say... but for some, the limit of 0.1mm may be a deal breaker. Some would also argue the plastic material is a deal breaker. This, however is a unwarranted concern as the plastic used is a robust and rigid affair that is molded and cast very well. TBH, if 3.5 stars could be given it would be more honest. However, 4 stars is more honest than 3 in this context

Very good value for a perfectly useable micrometer
This is a pretty cheap item and you end up a little worried it will be yet more "Pacific Rim junk". It took a while to swim from the Far East and it felt a little flimsy when I tried it. That said, a year on, it still works just fine and I find myself using it increasingly. Worth the money!
