Not too hard to modify to fit non-Bridgeport mills
I have a Clausing 8530 mill and was really tired of hand-cranking the Z (knee) up and down. I bought this knowing I would have to build some additional parts and maybe modify others, I went through a number of iterations but finally was successful. Once I figured out an adapter to mount the shaft to my mill, the rest was fairly straight forward. There are two sets of threads on the shaft: female SAE 3/4 that luckily fit the drive output on my mill, and male threads on the shaft output that fit the Bridgeport 9 tooth handle (which you still need for small adjustments). My mill uses a square shaft handle so I needed to make a square male piece that would screw onto the output end of the shaft. Therein was the problem: for some reason, the manufacturer used METRIC threads on that end, and not just standard, easy to find threads. After MANY trials and trying, with no luck, to contact the manufacturer, I finally figured them out, and wanted to pass them on to any others that want to try this. The shaft output threads are: M21 2.0 pitch. Not easy to find a tap for. Anyway, the motor has lots of power and it does the job.
