Got this mostly for a laugh and to maybe play with modding. When I put it in my recording booth to test it stock (I'm a voice actor)... I was honestly shocked. I've got more playing around to do but at this price its a viable starter mic. (I used 48v phantom power. No battery)

The first thing I did after testing it to see that it worked, was open it up and look at it. A shotgun microphone works by having a capsule at the base of the interference tube. Off-axis sound is rejected. This has 2 capsules and a pattern selection switch. I suspect that the "Normal" pattern is just the capsule at the tip and the "Tele" pattern combines both microphones so that sound that hits both capsules at the same time are subtracted.The microphone did work. I can't comment on the quality of sound or use yet. I don't think it will work well as a shotgun mic, but it might work okay as a handheld interview mic.

I was convinced that there would be some problem, but I can't find anything wrong. Sound quality is wonderful and has very good pattern for isolating the set. Cable is kind of cheap not sure it will last long but honestly this is worth it even without the cable.It's a little bit of overkill for my streaming setup as the 14" is longer than the standard boom length. Podcasting with it is great though.

I didn't expect too much for $20 but its works just fine there is no problem, also shipped fast
