YES YOU CAN CONNECT WITHOUT A HUE BRIDGE / HUB
As of January 2022, I can confirm YES, you are indeed able to connect this motion sensor directly to an alexa echo speaker, as long as your alexa echo speaker is one of the newer ones that supports “zigbee.” After connecting it, you can use Alexa “routines” so that when the motion sensor is triggered, something “happens” (like a light turning on). I just connected this Philips Hue Motion Sensor to my Echo 4 (which has zigbee). I do not have a Philips hub. I am not able to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor, but it does work for me. Also, since this is NOT SUPPORTED by Philips Hue, it’s possible this could stop working at a future date (I have no idea.. hopefully it will keep working…).To connect the motion sensor to Alexa, don’t use the Hue app. Instead, go into the Alexa app on your phone, go to Devices, click the “+” button at the top to add a new device…. Choose “Motion Sensor” (the list is not in alphabetical order… so it may take a second to find this option)…. Then on the next step DO NOT CHOOSE PHILIPS HUE — instead, scroll to the bottom, and choose “Other”… next choose “Zigbee”. At this point you’ll want your motion sensor to be in “pairing mode” or whatever it’s called. To do this, press and hold the reset button on the back of the motion sensor for 3 to 5 seconds. Let go. The front of the motion sensor should have a new light that comes on. Go back to your phone’s alexa app. Click “Discover Devices / next step.” After it’s connected, to use the motion sensor in alexa, you’ll need to create an “alexa routine” in your alexa app. You’ll have to google instructions for that if you’re not familiar. When creating the routine, for the routine’s trigger (the part labelled “When this happens..”) you will want to select “Smart Home” and then select your motion sensor from the list. These instructions are based on my experience with an iPhone Alexa app in January 2022; if you have android it may be a hair differentUnrelated note:I think this sensor has a built in thing.. where if won’t “trigger” twice if you walk past it twice in a row. So if you walk past it, and the lights come on. Let’s say you very quickly use your phone to turn the lights off, and very quickly you walk past the motion sensor again… the light will *not* turn back on for a 2nd time (in this example, you did everything I said very quickly, in less than 5 or 10 seconds). On the other hand: if you walk past the sensor, light comws on. Then you turn off the light (by app), then wait 10 or 20 seconds.. and then walk *again* past the motion sensor.. then *yes, in that case the light will indeed turn back on*.I think it has this weird timing thing.. so that if verball turn off the light as you walk out of the room… the motion sensor won’t just turn the light right back on when it sees you walk out. Something like that. Not sure

Phillips Hue Motion Sensor
I liked the motion sensor; however, as I am currently and slowly converting my home into a Smart Home, I was not ready or far enough along in the conversion to determine the best use for my smart home at this stage if the project (i.e., too soon).

Bon produit

Reliable and useful
Great to have these for lights near stairways and garages. Work flawlessly and ability to set active duration and ambient-light sensor in the HUE app is a good feature.
