Easy swap out, works great. The Bestway pump that came with our pool didn't really do the job. Had to run it several hours a day just to keep up. After a month it started tripping it's circuits and shutting down after running for a few minutes. Swapped it out for this unit and confirmed my suspicion on the under powered original unit. I put this on a timer to run off-peak hours for a couple hours a day and the pool looks great now.

We bought a Bestway pool from Costco last year. The pool is great and the kids enjoyed it… until it turned green. No matter what I did, it would not get all the algae out, even with the vacuum. We abandoned the pool until the heat came back around this year.I did not heed the warnings and used the pump that came with the pool, a Bestway 1500GPH sand filter. I did everything I could to make it work, but the water continued to get cloudy. I took it apart, serviced it and when I put it back together, it started spewing some sand into the pool.I finally broke down and bought the XtremepowerUS 3,100GPH Swimming Pool 16" Sand Filter as an upgrade. Setup was luckily pretty easy, save a couple issues. I only put 100 pounds of sand in it. There are some conflicting amounts on the reviews on here, but it could be due to the size of their filter. Similar 16” filters range from 100 to 130 pounds of sand.Here’s were some of the negatives come in.1) When I put the flange clamp on the neck of the filter, it broke on one of ends when tightening it. I will definitely need to replace it, but made it work pending a replacement.2) The hose that goes between the pump and the filter was deformed where it flushes up to the rubber o-ring, causing a leak. I had to remove the hose and grind/sand it flush.3) One of the long hoses that came with it has a couple pinholes in it. Luckily, the Bestway filter hoses worked.4) All of the hoses internal area was deformed so much that they would not fit over the connections of Intex plunger valves or the output valve. Again, the hoses that came with the Bestway pump were needed.OverallThe pump and filter work great. The pool went from cloudy to clear in less than 48 hours and the kids are enjoying.

The product manufacture provided hoses, gaskets and fittings to connect the sand filter to your pool. Even though it provided a 2" hose connection to the skimmer and the pool return inlet, the pool fittings did not have enough threats to connect the hoses tightly. So I bought a 4 pack of PVC hex 1 1/2" threaded nipple tube adapters (they fitted directly to my pool fittings) to connect two PVC 1 1/2" ball valves with a 2" X 1 1/2" bushing to connect the filter inlet and outlet hose connections. I used plenty of Teflon tape (5 to 6 turns) to ensure that there were no leaks along with using hand wrenches to connect the hoses tightly. The hoses have threaded ends and flanged so they have to tightened without any gaps otherwise they will leak.The pump did come in slightly damaged. There are four screws that connect the pump cover and someone (not me) had tighten the pump cover screws too tightly which cracked two of the cover ends. I reported this to the product manufacturer and they provided me with a new exact cover plate that included all the electronic components along with it. The connection is a plug and play so it was easy to replace.I did use the 1.54 LBS filter balls medium in instead of using sand which cleaned the pool but kept the pool water cloudy. After two weeks, I changed the pool medium to sand and within two days the water was crystal clear. This filter is so easy to maintain. I have it set for twelves hours. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Received this pump on time, and had it installed in an hour, pump is nice and quiet, I have been running it for a month on a timer approximately 5 to 6 hours a day. Water is clear pump is dependable. Yes I would recommend this. This was installed on a Menards 12 foot round 3 foot deep pool. Water was cloudy now it’s clear.

Strange thing about the PUMP, during start up of pump water dripped from pump housing. So I snugged housing screws. Helped some. Ran system over a cycle and and next day cycle all was great no leaks. It is working great. Now just needs to last.

Great pump. We have a 20' above ground pool we put this and a skimmer on it and crystal clear water all summer!
