This is a great book!
I bought this book for my brother to read to his grandchildren. Because he raises bees, I thought he would enjoy it. He loves the book and so do the children.

Stays true to early church tradition
Cute book with simple easy to understand text. There are a couple of reviews from Catholics that were misleading (I'm a former Catholic now Orthodox). St. Modomnoc is a pre-schism saint, so he is recognized by both churches. To say he wasn't Orthodox is not true, as the Roman Catholic church didn't exist until 1054, and he died in 550.In my copy I see no picture of the Eucharist, and even if there was, it's important to remember St. Modomnoc was pre-schism and the Eucharist was officially done differently by the Latins after 1054, so there's really nothing inaccurate or not safe for kids about that.Just setting the record straight. I hate for someone to pass this book up because people made comments not based on facts. I believe the author is Eastern Rite Catholic, and i applaud them staying true to early church history in this book.

Bees and they are soo cute
This is a really cute story of an Irish saint who went to Wales to study and the bees that decided they had to follow him everywhere. If you are looking to read your child a story about a saint you may not have heard of, or just looking for another book for that little assistant beekeeper this is definitely one to check out.

A Delightful Book
Mrs. Jackson has written a delightful and lovely little book about Saint Modomnoc and his bees. I had just gotten the book in the mail, and 5 of my 14 grandchildren came over that evening. They LOVED the book. I can't wait to share it with the rest of my grandchildren. The text is written in a way that is perfectly suited for children while being interesting to the adults that read it to them as well. I hope Mrs. Jackson will write more books about saints for children.

Buy this book for your family!
This book is amazing!! It's the perfect length of story for a child to sit through (and for me to have to read repeatedly). It's such a fun whimsical story about an obscure saint. I love the illustrations and the words with which the author tells the story. I hope this author comes out with more books!!

My first grader and I read this as a bedtime ...
My first grader and I read this as a bedtime story. It was well written and entertaining as well as educational. We are definitely keeping this one to read to the younger children when they get past board books.

Great story, great illustrations!
Bought this book to read to our sons. There's a dearth of Orthodox Christian books out there for children, but happened upon this, and we love it!Great story, great illustrations! Has become an evening favorite of my 4 yo, and 1.5yo, along with The Queen and the Cats: A Story of St. Helena (Paperback), Dessi Jackson, author.

How bees came to Ireland.
Sweet book, delightfully written and illustrated, retelling a favourite legend of how bees were introduced into Ireland, from Wales, during the 6th century. There are many stories about St. David, the patron Saint of Wales, but this is a new tale, mainly concerned with one of his acolytes, (Modomnoc ), who later became a Saint in his own right - and the patron of beekeepers.Easily read and understood by children of 6+, and a charming "read-aloud" as well.A charming book.
