Great budget ant study tool!

I purchased this as a supplemental learning tool during an ant unit study while homeschooling my 5 and 6 year olds. This ant habitat was easy to set up. I ordered ants separately after attempting to capture some from the yard. The ants in my area were small enough to escape through the vent holes around the top of the enclosure, but the recommended Harvester ants were unable to escape and quickly started on creating a labyrinth of tunnels to enjoy and study. The space was narrow enough to see most of the tunnels from both sides. I kept it on a table along a major pathway but away from direct sunlight and had no issues with spills or falls. There was a bit of the tunnels hidden at the bottom though due to the casing. The access hole was easy to use for watering and feeding, but was difficult to use to remove any refuse.Mold was an issue as the colony progressed and I believe that was a main contributor to its demise. Our 30ish ants lasted about a month before the last handful succumbed. All in all, I'm really happy with the experience as I had no intention of become a serious hobbyist.Quality: 5/5 for the price pointPerformance: 5/5Educational value: 5/5Stability: 5/5

My little buddy loves it.

This is so cute and really shows the nature of ants. My little buddy loves to watch.

Not bad, I’m guessing there are better ones to try.

Large Harvesting Aunts get stuck between clear plastic and green plastic trees. Also our aunts dug Dow to the bottom and did something. Be can’t see because it’s behind the tree base at the bottom.Connection two is fun.

Honestly don't think it's worth it.

Extremely hard to get the ants into. Even after keeping the ants in the fridge for 20-30 min, they still Woke up pretty quickly and started trying to climb out of the funnel we had to use to try to get them into the ant farm. Wish the farm had a larger opening at the top to put the ants into. Also most of the ants died within a week. And they were all dead within 3 weeks. Even with feeding teeny tiny bits of food and making sure the sand was damp. It's like there wasn't enough air holes and they suffocated.

Great gift for outdoor lovers!

I got this for my little brother and he loves it! It’s so cool to watch the ants create tunnels!

Nope this is poorly made

This is poorly made. The ants were tricky to put inside. The tube did not fit easily enough for them to funnel inside. It was.bigger than the opening and had to be squeezed/wedged i(with ants) to get in. Also all of the ants escaped somehow after one day. I never did figure.out where they were escaping from. I would not recommend this item.

Graveyard

I didn’t have any problems with ants escaping, the ones you order are big enough to not fit through air holes. Most came dead, the rest started dying off the next day. Messaged customer service and they are sending more, so that’s nice. I don’t think it will help though. First, they are a pain to get into the thing, but the biggest design flaw is it’s impossible to get into it to remove the dead ants. Ants bring the dead to the “surface” and bury them, should be easier to get them out, but because of the design, you can’t get to them in corners. I mean you can, if you want to destroy what they built and have the remaining ants escape… Another major flaw is the size, the ants have no where to put the sand the remove to make the tunnels so they pile it up on the “surface”. Which, after a bit becomes a big graveyard of dead ants. You can leave them, but ants don’t like it and dead ants beget more dead ants.
