This is a brilliant study bible and if you want to learn and understand more about God's word then this helps to break it down and explain it. Its packed with really detailed background information and pictures and is a must have for anyone who reads the bible on a regular basis

Still slightly heavier than a regular/non study bible but a good compromise on text size.

This is a superb bible, it has all the brilliant notes and charts etc of the larger study bible, but it doesn't feel like you will break your arm when you lift it. You may laugh but as the bigger bible is nearly 6cm thick it weighs an awful lot and is not easily transported. I found the text and notes clearly legible even from 2-3 ft away. If you are unfamiliar with the esv study notes they do take a slight reformed bias more John Piper than Rob Bell but are still exceptional. I own most study bibles and this is by far and away the most usefull one I have.

Bought both the personal size and the normal size to compare. Personal size is indeed more practical when taking to church or bible study, and to be honest I like it more because all the pages including front few pages and last few pages of maps are made of the same thin paper as the rest of the bible. After reading both for a while I do notice that I got strained eyes quickly when reading the personal size especially the notes. My eyesight is good and no problem for me to see the notes clearly just too tiring. Please judge for yourself what suits your purpose the best. Needless to say the ESV study bible itself, it's a must have for bible study collection.

I was a little surprised at how small the bible is but it has grown on me. It is really well made and the smaller size allows me to read it in bed without my arms dropping off like they do for some of the bigger study bibles I have..I say bigger in physical size. This still has all the EDV notes in it. Great all round
