Does just what it should

I don't write many reviews but I hope this one will help someone installing this in concrete. The bolt works great, the post is solid once tightened. I had a hard time gathering information to find for concrete installations so I'm going to explain how I did it:If you're installing in concrete, make sure your bit is an 1/8" bigger than the diameter of the bolt. Drill down as far as mentioned on the directions. Clean out all dust from the hole with a shop vac, brush, bolt, etc. Get the dust out completely, then I used the following epoxy:Sika Anchorfix-2, super strength anchoring adhesive, Two component anchor system for threaded bars in uncracked concrete, 10.1 fl. Oz https://a.co/d/2JaAc69Filled the hole up about halfway, then filled the threads on the bolt as well. Work quick, the stuff sets in 4 minutes. I waited a day before I put the post on a tightened it down. Hope this helps someone.

Secure your railing post

Worked great. Watched some YouTube videos on how to install and it is exactly what I was looking for. Very sturdy and worth the money. I would buy it again.

Don't waste time with anything else.

So I saw this on YouTube, and was gonna order it, but originally it wasn't gonna make it in time for when I planned on doing the project. So I bought the one from the big box stores that just gmhad a regular nut. It was absolutely worthless! There was barely any room to get a wrench on it and the only way I was able to get a 3/4 wrench in there was to grind about 1/4" off the side of the wrench. Then, almost immediately, the nut started biting in at a slant and became crossthreaded. I almost got so frustrated trying to get it off I considered just cutting off the newal and starting fresh. After 2 hours, I finally got it off with minimal newal damage. My wife encouraged me to just stop- cool off and order the zip bolt and wait. From the moment it arrived, it took all of five minutes for me to tear open the package and set the newal post solid. This really does work just as fast and easy as the YouTube video and I really wish I would have just started with the zip bolt. I highly recommend it.

Works well even in a concrete floor but it's pricey

First, I'm very satisfied with the results of my project. My railing posts are very secure and I believe they will hold up for many years. While the instructions were clear and the product was easy to use I wished that the company website or product packaging had more information on how to secure the bolt in a concrete floor, which my situation required. A concrete adhesive (the kind with two tubes of product you mix together that sets in about five minutes) worked but I had to research elsewhere and was very nervous about using a quick set epoxy that I wasn't necessarily sure would hold. The ratcheting gizmo is a neat design. It didn't matter for operation but I did find it odd that the bolt threads were opposite of normal (lefty tighty, righty loosey) and I had to keep reminding myself to turn the ratchet the "wrong" way during Installation.I felt that the price was high for what's essentially a lag bolt and fancy nut but I do have piece of mind that no one will tumble down my stairs. One more aspect that I like is that if you ever need to disconnect the newel post from the floor it can be accomplished by drilling out the wood plug, which would enable you to reuse the expensive hardwood post.

Works fantastic!!!

the bolts need to be attached to the framing under the flooring to secure the post tightly. Youll need to have 3 drill bits: 3/8" x 6" drilling depth into the floor framing, 5/8" x 6" drilling depth into the bottom of the post, and 1-1/2" bore bit about 3" long for the side of the post. With the bolt installed and the post tightened down, the post is very secure. Just be sure to mount the post over the floor framing or add additional framing for the bolt to be as strong and secure as possible.

Great concept - junk gearing mechanism to tighten

I purchased the first one and thought maybe I screwed it installing it when I dry fit it. So I got a second one and it worked OK when I dry fit it. When I used the construction adheasive for final assembly the gearing mechanism screwed up and wouldn’t tighten down. So at this point there was/is no turning back. I am stuck with relying on the construction adhesive to hold this tight. Wish I had never used this product. It is not a question of returning it for a refund as the seized parts are stuck inside the glued on newel/sleeve.Like I said great concept, just junk gearing mechanism for tightening that cross threads easily, siezes up and/or strips out! Beware you have my opinion!

No need for brackets!

Super easy to use, great holding strength! Once you drill the holes in your post, it takes only minutes to put in place.

Wonderfull Idea!

I purchased several different types for securing my new, oak handrails, but none survived installation. The instructions are clear, and the steps are carefully laid out, with an alan wrench bit. The tightening mechanism is the key, it's such a great idea! BUT! It's made of the cheapest material to be found, tin? I think?? The gear mechanism on all six products doesn't have the bite to spin. It will drive a little, one way and grind the other if you spin it by hand. I still think it is a great idea! Granted it's a $80 lesson.
