It Works
Bought for the kitchen. When it zaps a fly the crack is loud and can make one jump.Works well at night. No on off switch so I've plugged in to timed socket for between sunset and sunrise.Short cable so a high socket is needed if hanging.Weighty well made appearance.I chose this model due to the specific lumen advertised and seems to work well. Not bright or very blue like some.I turn kitchen light off now at night to make it the only light source.

Bugs Be GONE
works really well.. completely silent until you get the "CRACK" of a bug being zapped and not overly bright - very satisfying knowing that's one less bite you'll be getting.we use our in the door way of french doors to the patio if eating inside with doors open on a summers night or in the open cabin at the back of the garden which can be host to zillions of mini biters.not with this... great value for money.

A suprisingly effective fly zapper
Height of the summer and we started seeing the flies appearing in the kitchen, so I decided I would try this out. I wasn't expecting a whole load of success with it, but I was surprised at how effective it was at killing flies. The very bright light seems to work well at attracting them, and the pleasant popping sound when one gets zapped is an added bonus! The unit seems sturdy and there are no nasty smells or any unpleasantness from having it turned on.There does not appear to be a power switch on it, so it's a plugged in an on job, and unplug when you are done. It came with a little cleaning brush, but to be honest, I've never used it. The bottom of the device has a little storage pot where your dead flies are supposed to go, but I am guessing the sheer power of the light incinerates most flies, or I find them a few inches away from the device as it rarely collects a great deal. For the price, this is certainly worth a punt!

The Palone fly zapper is compact and looks good. Alas, it fails to catch flies.
The fly zapper arrived promptly and I set it up in a corner of our kitchen above the small bin used for vegetable waste. I had noticed several bugs flying circuits around this spot.I left it on for 72 hours, checking its performance each day. In the first day it caught one tiny insect, on the second day it killed a slightly larger fly, thereafter, nothing at all.I decided to compare it to two other fly control methods:-1) Traditional sticky fly paper cartridges2) A Zapit rechargeable tennis racquet style fly swatted. The results are in…The fly paper caught three flies in a weekThe Zapit tennis racquet killed 11 flies in three minutes. This is a no-brainier. The fly paper is cheap, ugly and ineffective. The Palone looks sophisticated but it uses electricity and costs money to run. It is no more use than a chocolate teapot. The tennis racquet Zapit is great fun to use and experience makes it highly effective. Most beginners are far too athletic and vigorous, this can lead to broken ornaments and lighting fixtures.By studying the behaviour of flies one can replace the Venus Williams smash with a cunning fox-like late lunge. The slow approach will allow you to get very close to the target fly. Holding the racquet still in your preferred hand, use your other hand to approach the target from behind, as it escapes the herding hand it will fly off into the racquet with a satisfying sharp bang. Death is quick unlike the hideously prolonged suffering of a fly stuck to flypaper.

Does what it says on the tin
I am very impressed. Within 15 minutes of being plugged in and put in the location I wanted it for. The first fly had been zapped. I bought it to keep flies away from my cat's food, this does the job perfectly. I even connected a timer so that it's on from first light to last light.
