Great Air Con - Best looking. Cools well with Smart Controls and Alexa!
Update: Have now had this through the summer and it's been great. Can't fault it! The WiFi connection is a game changer for me.I don't usually write long reviews ands just do a couple of lines if something is really good or really bad, but i thought this air con is really good and most of the other reviews don't do it justice. I only bought this one because I liked the look of it so much and was half expecting to send it back if it didn't cool well enough based on some other reviews. It looks great, cools really well, works with Alexa and is much better than i'd hoped for so here it goes.I've had this Ometa 7000BTU for a couple of weeks now and it's performing really well. It cools very well and better than I thought it would based on other reviews. I already have a Black+Decker 12000 BTU air con unit (Cost twice as much as this one) for a couple of years and wanted to get a second unit so I could have one in our bedroom and the second downstairs. This unit is much quieter than our previous one (especially when in sleep mode) so I chose to keep this in the bedroom. (Note: all air con units are noisy compaired to fans. this one is just quieter than most, but it's still noisy for a bedroom). I like the ambient sound when sleeping as it blocks out any other noises that might wake me up.Looks & Perfomance:I have had the same problem that others have mentioned where the sticker on the control panel on top of the unit was coming off slightly when I unboxed it, but i pushed it down again and no sign of it coming loose again so far.The unit looks great, I find most unit's are boring white and look industrial but this one actually looks good in the room. The light on the front changes colour depending on the mode selected which looks really good. It's quite bright at night but you can choose "Sleep" mode which turns the light off, dims the control panel and runs the fan slower so it's not so noisy. It's not been that warm so far this year, but I like to our bedroom to be cold so have kept this running overnight a quite a few times. It's cools the room too much if I set it to 16°. I find setting it to 19° works for me when it's hot and just using the fan only function if it's not. When in air con mode the compressor kicks in when the room temp goes above the chosen temp. On our old air con the compressor kicking in was a loud jolt, but this one is much quieter. There's still a noise but it doesn't wake you up. Obviosly our old unit being 12000BTU is more powerful v's this 7000BTU but this still chills the room down really well and is more than enough for our reasonably large bedroom.I can't understand the reviews saying it's not much colder than a standard fan. They've either got a faulty unit or have it set wrong. If you're using it in fan mode, dehimidifyer mode or heating mode it won't chill. If you have the temerature set higher than the room temperature it won't chill. If you set it to 16° on Air Con mode it will chill really well. It's take a few minutes for the unit to cool the air down but that's the same on any air con, but once it's running it works really well.Others have also said there's no difference between ther high and low fan settings. Not true, there's a reasonable difference and I use both all of the time. As I've already mentioned, neither are that quiet but that's the same for all air con units. If you want the air cold they need to use a compressor and have a powerful fan.The Remote:I've rated remote as 5 stars but this is for the overall remote control of the unit. The actual remote that comes with the unit is just ok. It doesn't look great as it's white and looks quite cheap compaired to the unit but it works and does the job (FYI, it takes 2 x AAA batteries not supplied). It does need line of sight to work and if you use the remote without line of sight it will tell you the unit is on when it's not, so you have the turn it off then off again on the remote for them to sync. Not a big deal but a bit annoying. What I really like is the remote control via the Smart Life App and Alexa connectivity. These use WiFi so don't need line of sight and are very responsive. Also, as they're WiFi you don't have to be at home to control it. On a hot day when you're out you can turn the air con on to cool the house before you get home.Connect to Smart Life App:You need to connect the unit to your WiFi which is straight forward. Download the smartlife app on your mobile, Add Device (Small Home Appliance - Air Cooler BLE+Wi-Fi) Press the WiFi button on the Remote to set the unit to WiFi set up mode (WiFi light on the unit will flash) then follow the app instructions and put in your WiFi password - Done. Once that's paired give it a name like "Air Con" so you can use that name when asking Alexa to operate it.Connect to Alexa.Once you've set it up on the Smart Life app you can connect it to Alexa by enabling the Smart Life app in your Alexa Skills. Once enabled it will automatically detect the unit.To start with Alexa will just turn the unit on and off by saying "Air Con" on/off, but if you add some "Tap-to-Run" scenes in the smart life app and name them, it automatically adds them to your Alexa controls as well. You can then just use the name of the scene with Alexa. I've set mine up so it will automatically change modes, fan speed, temperature, timers etc. You can also use it to come on at certain times or when you enter the house by using the Smart Life Tap-to-Run and Alexa routines combined. All works really well. Also, Smart Life have a widget option for your mobile so all of the "Tap-to-Run" scenes you set up can be on a short cut on you homescreen. I'm now only using these or Alexa to control the unit and it's much better for it.All in all, this air con unit is better looking than any others. At £250 it's cheaper than most, works well and has smart controls with Alexa. What's not to like!Hope this is helpful.

Just yes !
This air conditioning unit is amazing. It cools the room down on a hot night and unlike some others you don’t need to put water in it so much more practical. You do need to empty the water that builds up but not a massive issue. The only issue is setting up the connecting the pipe as it comes off every now and then which is a little annoying but I would still buy it despite this. Also the pipe is probably made for American windows but we have managed to prop it up. Yet again still would recommend but just no you might have to be creative to get the pipe stays. We just wedge it in the window.I would say it is durable in quality, hard plastic. It’s a reasonable size for a big bedroom if it was a single it would probably take up some space.

Fantastic Air Conditioner
The media could not be loaded. We purchased this 10000BTU air conditioner as an upgrade to our 8000BTU one. I have to say this is much nicer looking than our original unit. The slate grey design looks really smart. The unit has a touch screen interface located on the top with a very useful temperature set gauge. The unit is also 'smart' meaning it can connect to your home wifi and then remotely control via the smart life app. This function works brilliantly and I had the smart app features working within around 5 mins. Not only can you control the unit via an app but it also has a good old fashioned remote control. You can vary the air con unit between several modes, cold, fan and heat. Having tried all of the modes I can say they each work brilliantly. It does take around a minute or two for the unit to switch the modes, but I assume this is something to do with the compressor changing from cold to heat etc.Noise wise, i have to say this unit is so much quieter than our previous portable air con unit. Yes it's still loud at full speed (3 speeds available + a sleep mode) but for me, in comparison to my previous unit the noise level is much better! One thing I really loved about this product is that it has a swing mode meaning that the cold air can be directed around the room rather than just blowing in one spot - you can turn this function off if you want. The cooling mode is excellent, it reduced my lounge temperature by 2c in just under 1 hr. The heating mode is acceptable, i would describe it as warm rather than hot air which is expelled. My only notable drawback re this unit is that the hose is very short meaning i have to have the main unit very close to the back door in order for the vent pipe to exhaust out into the garden.Would I recommend this product to others? Yes - I feel this is a great value air con unit with some excellent smart functions. I love it!
