Good starter microscope
I bought this for my son who has developed an interest in biology and he loves it. The rest of the reviews here cover the scope pretty well. I'm leaving this one to say that we had an issue with the eyepieces so we contacted Amscope directly. They promptly resolved the issue without any hassle. This alone was enough to prompt me to write this review. Good customer service adds greatly to the value of this microscope.

A nice budget microscope; some minor shortcomings but no deal-breakers. A solid choice for viewing items of interest up-close.
We have so far only looked at a couple of things in this microscope; a small flying bug placed on a slide, and a drop of blood (I cut myself doing some home improvement projects, so captured a drop on a slide). This microscope does a fine job of allowing us to view these things up very close. I'm definitely glad I got this version with the fine-adjustment knob included rather than the less expensive version with only the coarse adjustment knobs. The microscope itself feels solid and well-made. The 3-element rotating assembly works well and is nice and tight. The LED under-light works well with a nice smoothly adjustable brightness level. The stage is stable, with useful slide clips, and adjustable light aperture disc located underneath. This unit works equally well on battery power as with an AC adapter; for my purposes I'm sure we will only ever use it with batteries. The microscope also comes with a nice dust cover to protect it when not in use, and a secondary eyepiece to provide additional magnification when desired. At the highest magnification level with the more powerful eyepiece, the LED light does struggle to provide sufficient lighting, but you can still make out details on your subject slide well enough.Honestly, at this price, I am quite happy with this purchase. I wish the LED light was capable of a bit more brightness, but for most purposes it works pretty well. The scope is sturdy and feels like it will last quite awhile. I also wish it had come with a better storage sleeve for the additional eyepiece. Even better still if the microscope had a place to store the extra eyepiece, or came with a storage case, but I'll make do. Overall, it should work great for showing my young daughter the interesting and amazing world of microscopic viewing.

ABSOLUTE 5 out of 5!!
Straight out the box you get a good quality microscope. Everything is packaged well! The microscope has a good weight to it!! It doesn't feel like a toy. It comes with everything as stated. I like the fact that this uses both battery and adapter for the light source which includes a knob for brightening/dimming. While observing specimen, the lens clarity is amaizing!! Everything works how it supposed to. My only complaint is not having a knob to tune the stage left and right. I would've also liked if we were able to use that type C input with a cable for imaging but that's just a power adapter input. Overall I still give this product 5 stars! Definately a good buy! Good value for the price!

Great price on a quality piece of equipment.
It has clear optics and a quality build. The only negative thing I can say regarding my use is it doesn’t have an upper light. I knew this when I bought it and had a plan for auxiliary lighting. I am very happy with my purchase.

Works great
While not super sophisticated, this works great. I read other reviews and had some concerns thinking I might have to return this, but I'm quite satisfied with the functionality given the price point.I added the provided 3x AA batteries, flicked on the power (light worked great), found a spec of wood fiber and just put it on a slide (which I had bought separately for a few bucks), clipped the slide in, and it was immediately in focus (which was a happy accident). The zoom in/out controls worked well - tight enough to feel solid, but loose enough to turn without much effort. When switching to higher magnification, I had to turn the brightness up which was easy with the adjustment knob.I should have gotten a scope with controls for a sliding table/shelf because at these scales moving the slide is very sensitive. But I got what I needed with this.I would suggest this for a beginner (like me) who is in need of seeing tiny things :)If I have longevity issues with this, I'll update this review; but for now, it has done exactly what I needed.

It's fine. I like it but there's an issue...
When I bought this I expected a new product. Either it was mishandled during assembly by amscope or I bought it new and Amazon shipped me a used one cause all of the black you see in this photo is scratches and it's very noticeable when using a 40x eyepiece and very noticeable when using a 100x (oil) eyepiece. Sometimes it's difficult to tell what's scratches and what's not. But enjoy this photo I took of raw unfiltered honey. It's pollen. There's lots of these and different types and shapes in raw honey. It does fine with the eyepieces it comes with when viewing things and the light it's pretty bright. The stage doesn't wobble and it stays where you want it. The fine tuning is great also.
